Post-Surgical Rehabilitation in Peachtree City, GA

Giving Back

Recovery, Not Just Rest.

The weeks and months after surgery determine how far and how well you recover. At ProHealth, a licensed PT or PTA guides every session, coordinates with your surgeon, and makes sure nothing is left to chance.

What Is Post-Surgical Rehab

Post-surgical rehabilitation is structured physical therapy that follows your procedure, guided by evidence-based protocols specific to the surgery you had. The core goals are consistent: protect the surgical site during healing, restore range of motion, rebuild strength, and return you to the activities that matter to you.

Surgical success depends on the quality of the rehabilitation that follows.

ProHealth accepts most major insurance plans for post-surgical rehab.

We verify your benefits before your first visit so you know what your coverage looks like.

A functional movement assessment is a structured evaluation that looks at how you move, not just where it hurts.

Your clinician tests specific patterns, identifies compensations, and maps the chain of dysfunction back to its source.

Then you build a plan that addresses the cause, not the symptom.

We Work With Your Surgeon

Every post-surgical case we treat follows the protocol your surgeon provides. We read it, we follow it, and we send progress notes back to your surgeon's office throughout your care.

If something in your recovery isn't tracking the way it should, we flag it early so your surgeon can weigh in at your next post-op check. You stay in the center of a coordinated care team, not caught between providers who don't talk to each other.

What Is Functional Movement Therapy

Functional movement is how your body performs the everyday actions of life: standing up, reaching overhead, walking down stairs, turning to look behind you. When those patterns break down, pain and injury follow. Often in places that seem unrelated to the actual cause.

What Makes ProHealth Different

Your post-surgical recovery is delivered by the same licensed clinician from your first post-op visit through your return to activity. No handoffs to aides during the critical early phases when clinical judgment matters most.

Every ProHealth physical therapist and PTA is also trained in Polestar® Pilates, which gives our team the movement-based foundation that makes long-term recovery, not just short-term healing, possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start physical therapy after surgery?

It depends on your procedure and your surgeon's protocol. For some surgeries, like total joint replacement and ACL reconstruction, physical therapy starts within days of the operation. For others, the first few weeks are focused on protecting the repair and rehabilitation begins a little later. Your surgeon will tell you when to start. When you schedule with us, we'll coordinate directly with their office to make sure the timing is right.

Will you work with my surgeon's protocol?

Yes, always.

What if I'm already doing PT somewhere else and want to switch?

You're allowed to switch, and patients do it often. Some arrive to us after a busy clinic where they felt rushed or handed off to an aide. Others were started at a hospital-based outpatient program and want a different environment. The process is straightforward: we obtain your surgical protocol and recent notes, your surgeon is notified, and your care continues without starting over. Your progress follows you here.

How long until I'm back to normal?

It depends on the procedure and the body you're bringing to the recovery. Most total joint replacements take eight to twelve weeks of formal PT before patients feel close to normal daily function, with continued gains for several months. ACL reconstruction takes six to nine months to return to sport. Rotator cuff repair is typically four to six months. Your clinician will give you honest milestones at your evaluation and update them as your recovery progresses. Some patients come back better than they were before surgery. Some return to a reliable baseline. Either way, we'll tell you the truth about what's likely for you.

Will post-surgical rehab hurt?

Some discomfort is part of the process, especially in the early phase when your body is still healing. It should be manageable, and your clinician will pace the work so you're progressing without setting yourself back. What you should not feel is the sharp, focused pain of something being pushed too hard. If you ever feel that, tell your clinician immediately. We adjust in real time. Soreness the day after is normal. Severe or worsening pain is a signal we take seriously.
